Did you know the Ferris Wheel was invented for the Chicago Worlds Fair? They were trying to “out Eiffel” Eiffel. 😂

One of my friends and I started reading this together the beginning of COVID quarantine and one of our questions for discussion was who is more famous: Gustave Eiffel for designing a structure so awe inspiring that it became one of the wonders of the world and nothing like it has been erected since OR George Washington Gale Ferris for being the first to engineer a piece of architecture so enjoyed by the public that it can be found at every fair/carnival since and to this day? Thoughts?

From learning about the economic crisis of the time, the build up to the fair, the excitement it gave the nation, the return to desolation once it was over and the creepy serial killer in between…this was very well written and an interesting read
