“Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will.”
I feel one tiny step closer to truly understanding the issue of racial injustice that existed in MLK Jr’s time after reading his letter and speech.
To say we are still fighting the exact same fight that he was fighting, I think would be a discredit to the work he did and the impact he made on our nation but I also believe that racism will exist as long as people exist because people are sinful.
He made a difference, though. He made a difference because he was different. He held workshops on non-violence and said: “Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.”
I loved learning more of MLK Jr’s story and I want to hear other stories. Some people are just making noise for the sake of making noise but I know a lot of people who are passionate about this have stories to share.
